GoTo... the Checklist!

The most important aspect of passport and visa rules is that they change and change regularly.

Never assume you have the very latest information until you have visited the links provided on this page.

If you are a UK citizen then all the latest passport info can be found on the UK Passport Service web site. The UKPS is a Home Office agency and direct links to a number of the more common enquiries can be found in the right-hand column.

For the very latest information on visa regulations to visit a particular country, you should visit the web site published by that country's embassy, based in the UK. A comprehensive list of these sites is provided by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO).

The FCO also publishes Traval Advice Notices on over 200 countries that contain, as well as many other facts, the latest visa information. Those Notices can be

visited directly from this dropdown menu... just select the country and click 'GO'.
An Accredited Agent
You may find it better to apply for your visa through an agent. They can simplify the whole process for you and if speed is of the essence, then you may have no choice but to use one. The down side is... they charge you! But it may be far less expensive than a visit to London by yourself. NOTE... a small number of countries operate a system of personal applications only.

Although these agents check your paperwork and much reduce the instances of delays, they are after all, dealing with bureaucrats and civil servants, so things can and do go wrong, so use an agent with a 'High Street' presence.

Thames Consular
One such agent is Thames Consular. They are a well established firm and their web site contains visa information on over 180 countries. You can download application forms for over 80 countries and their online tracking service keeps you informed of the progress of your application. Check-out their information on the

The FCO publishes a list of all countries that the department advises UK citizens against travelling too. Some countries, it advises against all travel, whilst others it advises against all but essential travel. The full list can be viewed HERE. Amazingly there's no mention of Ibiza and 18-30 Club!
