Q. Why would I need a web site?
A. There are many different reasons for having a web site. To promote yourself or your business, to sell products or services, to publish a project, to publish data that could be of interest to other people or to just show off your skills... are but a few.

Q. Why would I need a hosting plan?
A. To be able to upload files onto a server that's part of the world wide web so that anyone with internet access can view those files as a web site.
ToP

Q. Why not use the free webspace offered by my broadband provider?
A. You should use this free space but not for any serious or commercial web site. Many small businesses cannot take advantage of the latest internet access cost reductions or the increased access speeds because they are tied into their current provider by either contract or penalties and in some cases you could loose your domain name if you switched. Furthermore any dispute with your provider over access speeds, dropped lines etc (a common scenario) puts you in a precarious position if it's difficult for you to switch providers.
ToP

Q. Why not accept the offer of a FREE domain name?
A. Before accepting the offer find out the cost of renewing your registration and the cost of moving it to another provider. NawtNet renewals are £5.18 for two years whereas PlusNet (one of the better broadband providers) renewals are £68.41 for two years, that's a huge difference.

Q. Can I seperate my internet access, hosting and domain registry?
A. Yes! and it's good working practice to do so.
ToP

Q. What's a web server?
A. It's a computer that's specifically used for storing web sites and is connected to the rest of the web 24/7.
ToP

Q. What's a web servers uptime?
A. A web servers uptime is a measurement of how often it's web sites are available to the rest of the world. If you choose hosting that provides the very latest networking system, then another web server kicks in before the other shuts down, achieving 100% uptime.
ToP

Q. What's a web servers connection speed?
A. A web servers connection speed depends on the bandwidth of its connection to the rest of the world wide web. From a 2MB connection on a server located in someones back bedroom, to an 8MB connection on a server located in a modern technology park, to a 100MB connections found in purpose built centres.

Q. How long will it take to setup my web hosting account?
A. All our hosting accounts are activated in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You should receive your welcome email within ten seconds of your account being ordered!
ToP

Q. How long will it take for my new domain name to become active?
A. Domains are registered as soon as you order them, however it can take between 24 and 72 hours for them to become visible on the Internet.
